This paper analyzez 30 widely varying cases from 20 countries ranging in size from the atoll of Kiribati in Micronesia, with a population of less than 100.000, to the people Republic of China, with a population of 1.28 billion. The cases explore water issues as they affect the poor in many parts of the world, suggest lessons learned from the sometimes experimental inventions, and challenge some widely beliefs abaout water management.
