This volume stes out the requirements of the Director General of the Sewerege Service for the planning, design and construction of sewage treatment plants. This volume contains the following:-an overview of considerations and criteria for sewage treatment plant design.- effluent discharge standards requirements and the capacity of diffrent sewage treatment processes to meet these standards.- requirements for the siting and sizing of sewage treatment plants- requirements for each stage of sewage treatment plants- minimum requiretments for temporary treatment plants, treatment plants within buildings, homested developments and exemptions for non compliance with standards.the owner must comply with the requirements set out in this volumen when submitting an application for approval to the director general. This volume does not cover the installation of internal plumbing systems to buidings, these procedures are managed by local authorities.
