The tsunami that hit Aceh in December 2004 has promoted efforts of many stakeholders at the international, global and local levels in strengthening their willingness and commitment to contribute to disaster risk reduction activities. Disaster risk reduction is the responsibility of all, it is the imperative of the Government, business sectors and civil society, with the government as the main duty bearer.
