SNV Netherlands Development Organisation
SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation. Founded in the Netherlands 50 years ago, we have built a long-term, local presence in 25, many of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our global teams of local and international advisors work with local partners to equip communities, businesses and organisations with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services – empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development.
In Indonesia, SNV works together with local partners to provide technical expertise in two sectors: Agriculture and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). For the WASH sector, SNV is focused on increasing access to safely managed sanitation and in sustaining positive changes in hygiene behaviour, byproviding scalable, market driven solutions tailored to rural and urban contexts.
WASH SDGs program, funded by Directorate-General for International Cooperation (DGIS) The Netherland, supports local governments of Bandar Lampung & Metro Cities in Lampung Province and Tasikmalaya City in West Java Province to achieve sustainable and inclusive city-wide sanitation service in their area using Urban sanitation and hygiene for health and development (USSHD) approach. In partnership with national and government counterparts, the WASH SDGs program aims to improve the way human waste is managed by addressing the entire sanitation chain and answering different needs among the population with appropriate and sustainable service delivery models.
USSHD is an approach that works with municipal governments to develop inclusive, safe and sustainable city-wide sanitation services. The programme integrates insights in WASH governance, investment and finance, behavioural change communication, business models and management of the sanitation services. In each of these components we build local capacity of government, private sector and civil society.
